"The best Caribbean restaurant and bar in Britain"
Turtle Bay is the fun Caribbean restaurant taking the UK by storm. The buzzing atmosphere and energy about the place make it a sure fire fun and friendly place to eat, and with group bookings for as much as 18 on weekdays you can really make a night of it.

The interior transports you to what feels like a beach hut, relaxed and colourful. Seating surrounds a central 'beach bar' which mixes some pretty damn tasty cocktails - even tastier when they're 2 for 1 (a mouth watering £3.50 until 7pm and then again at 10pm-close). The acoustics aren't for those looking for a quiet or intimate setting - this place is loud, and voices are semi-drowned out by the tropical beats they have on at high volume. Staff are busy, but still manage to be hospitable and warm and are happy to recommend any dishes if you can't choose from the extensive menu.

I went for the Duck Rolls and Chilli Squid to start (I am sharing btw), followed by the half Jerk Chicken and Curry Shrimp and Mango. The Duck Rolls were very tasty, shredded duck engulfed by crispy pastry - the Chilli Squid had the perfect deep fried crunchy batter whilst managing to keep the squid tender. The half Jerk Chicken was delicious, one of those meals you never want to end, moist chicken cooked in really tasty marinade and the Curry Shrimp Mango was like nothing I'd ever tasted - overall, a really good meal. Prices for all of the above were reasonable, starters came in at £5.10 whilst the Chicken was £10.35 and curry £9.95.

Some people say that Turtle Bay isn't 'authentic Caribbean' food, but what chain restaurant of any cuisine is authentic? I wouldn't personally go to a Pizza Express demanding the true taste of Italy, or a Wagamama's expecting a true japanese. Essentially, Turtle Bay is good for what it is: a decently priced, fun yet laid back restaurant and bar for those who want to try Caribbean food but aren't fussy over it being the bona fide real thing.
