Drink, Shop & Do is a cafe by day, bar by night, hosting numerous events and activities to keep you creative and inspired. From belly dancing to mug making classes, there is guaranteed to be something artsy to get even the most unimaginative person creating.
I went to Drink, Shop & Do as the end of a Friday night out with some people from work. I was initially put off by the Kings Cross location but later convinced by the £2 entry fee (and the fact that the night tube had started this weekend). The staff when we arrived were super friendly and the upstairs bar had the remnants of the previous pinata making class. In the downstairs basement the DJ was spinning the best of 90s R&B and noughties classics - there was a nice crowd, inoffensive and up for a good time.
The drinks prices were as expected for the area - around £9 for a double mixer and £5 for a bottle of beer, almost as inoffensive as the crowd. Downstairs was pretty packed but left you enough room for a boogie, whilst upstairs was pretty much empty by the time we had arrived, meaning there was a place to go for a quiet drink if you wished to. The venue itself is quite small, feeling less like a bar/club and more like you're dancing in someone's living room - quite pleasant and a welcome change. The smoking area was very very small (a sectioned off bit of the front of the venue) and only allowed 4 people out at at any given time which was a tad annoying and would be one of my only complaints.
Overall Drink, Shop & Do is a very nice venue with friendly staff and an agreeable crowd. Don't come here if you're up for a mad one, but do come for a cheap and intimate boogie with a few friends after a few drinks. I haven't tried any of their classes myself but they all look great so I'd give that a try too - most are free, or require a very small fee to participate. Get creative, get 'doing', and then stay on for when the cafe transforms into a bar and have a boogie - because, why not?
